“Building Homes, Hope and Community”

With your partnership in 2014, Habitat made a difference in St. Lucie County!

  • Built 2 new homes and renovated 5 homes through the efforts of community volunteers, and the families who now live in their own home.
  • Worked with volunteers throughout the area
  • Renewed the St. Lucie County Ladies Build after a long break
  • Opened a second ReStore in Port St. Lucie, and renovated the Fort Pierce ReStore; Donate, Volunteer, Shop ReStores!

Habitat built homes and placed properties back on the tax roll through Habitat Homeowners mortgage payments, which helped others realize their dream of homeownership.

With the hard work and dedication of Habitat Supporters, 2015 will be another fantastic year of service to the community.

On World Habitat Day, the first Monday in October, Habitat for Humanity joins the United Nations and organizations around the world in raising awareness, educating and mobilizing individuals and communities to take action on the current global housing crisis.

Housing is central to ending the cycle of poverty. We want to see a world where everyone has a decent place to live, and so, on World Habitat Day, we call for programs, policies and systems that would make that world possible.

A special thanks to all our wonderful volunteers & sponsors that joined forces with us to help preserve 4 homes in our community, during Habitat's "National A Brush with Kindness week", September 19th - 26th.

Our goal is to continue with these efforts beyond "National A Brush with Kindness week", but in order to do that, we need Sponsors to help cover the cost of materials, permitting, and needed professional services to insure that the work is lasting.

"Won't You Consider becoming a Sponsor today and help change lives in our community?"

"What is Home Preservation?"
  • Home Preservation uses volunteers, donated materials and no-profit loans to make repairs affordable, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes.
  • Home Preservation is an extension of Habitat's core building program, to serve a different population, but yet follow the same basic tenets for eligibility - need,  ability to pay, willingness to partner - and stays within the Habitat model of providing a "hand up" not a "hand out".
  • Home Preservation, through programs such as "A Brush with Kindness", focuses on exterior home repair services such as painting, minor exterior repairs, landscaping, weather stripping and exterior cleanup. Volunteers work alongside the homeowner to revitalize a home's exterior.
  • Home Preservation is one tool that affiliates use to revitalize neighborhoods in their community.  It is a holistic approach that revitalizes the appearance of the neighborhood, encourages connections within the community and helps preserve affordable housing stock.
