St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity is taking the following measures as our social obligation to do our part to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of our employees, volunteers and the community at-large are very important to us. Our Continuity of Business Plan for the coming weeks is described for you below.

Build Sites

As of March 17, 2020, build sites are closed until May 11, 2020 to all volunteers and homeowners working toward sweat equity. The nature of construction activities creates a challenge to ensure that Habitat is following the social distancing and sanitization recommendations by the CDC at all of our build site locations where volunteerism is a key activity.

*Effective 12:01 am on April 3, 2020, the Safer at Home order; State of Florida, Office of the Governor, Executive Order Number 20-91, allows for persons to “obtain or provide essential services or conduct essential activities.”

“Essential” is detailed in an advisory list by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in its Guidance on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce, v.2 (March 28, 2020).

The list is partially quoted here: “The advisory list identifies workers who conduct a range of operations and services that are typically essential to continued critical infrastructure viability, including staffing operations centers, maintaining and repairing critical infrastructure, operating call centers, working construction, and performing operational functions, among others.”

ReStores

As of May 4, 2020, Ft. Pierce Restore remains closed, however the Port St. Lucie ReStore is open for shopping Monday through Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. Masks and six feet of social distance are required.

Online shopping is available for select items. These items are viewable at our Port St. Lucie Facbook page, and may be purchased by credit card over the phone at 772-249-0792 and picked up at our Port St. Lucie ReStore.

Free Contactless donation pick-ups are now available by calling 772-249-0792. Please call our Port St. Lucie ReStore at 772-249-0792 for more information about this service.

Events and Meetings

All in-person events and meetings are suspended until May 11, 2020, and we will conduct regular meetings via conference calls and video conferencing.

Administrative Office

As of March 18, 2020, our administrative office will be closed to the public until May 11, 2020. Until then, our operations and mission will continue electronically. Vendors seeking payment must submit invoices electronically or by office mail slot. Remittances will be paid as usual. The office mail slot is located on Florida Avenue, which is the North facing side of our 702 South 6th Street, Fort Pierce administrative office location.

Applications and supporting documents for our homeownership program can be submitted via email, fax or using the office mail slot on the Florida side of the building. Active homeowner candidates will continue to work with our staff by email and phones. Please call DonnaLea Askman at 772-464-1117, ext. 104 for more information

Mortgage loan servicing remains available to consult with Habitat homeowners who may be impacted by the public health crisis. Please call Tonya Mills at 772-464-1117, ext. 113 for more information.

Stay well and God bless,
Bob
