FORT PIERCE (August 19, 2023) With more teams in play than ever, 52 groups, the St Lucie Habitat for Humanity Battle of the Bags Cornhole Tournament brought competitors from all over the community to Baron Real Estate in St. Lucie West on August 19, 2023. The indoor air-conditioned location provided a backdrop for 52 corny-themed teams to enjoy the family-friendly event.
The well-organized tournament, run by St. Pete Cornhole, progressed throughout the day, culminating with the ultimate matching of wits between Team Luck Bags and The Young Guns, with the winning team of Young Guns taking home the bragging rights to 1st place and the $300 team cash prize. Team Luck Bags secured 2nd place with a $200 team cash prize, while Team No Sleep came away with 3rd place overall and a $100 team cash prize.
However, the ultimate winners are the local families in St Lucie County. Thanks to St Lucie Habitat for Humanity for working to eliminate barriers to a better, healthier, more financially stable life. Their homeownership program requires dedication, hard work, and personal resources. All future homeowners help build their homes and pay an affordable mortgage.
The event would only be able to take place with the kind and generous donations and sponsorships from so many local and caring community partners. Baron Real Estate, Bonner Mobile Bar, Texas Roadhouse, Chick-fil-A in St Lucie West, Brianna Cooper Heavenly Smiles Foundation, U.S. Congressmen Brian Mast, Testa Rossa Authentic Neapolitan Pizza, Seacoast Bank, ION Orthodontics, DDS4Vets, Loan Depot-Rick Meltzer, Bayan Creek Golf Club, Chris and Angel Robertson, St Lucie METS, St. Lucie County Fair, Mr. Jim Hatfield, and Meg Weinberger for State House District 94.
Participant Jason Yarbough from Baron Real Estate stated, “This was so much fun. We’ll be back next year! Making a difference in the lives of so many families is what it is all about.”
“It was great seeing our community come together once again,” said Development/Marketing Director Chris Robertson. “St Lucie Habitat for Humanity looks to bring local people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”
